Are you mechanically inclined, like to work with your hands and looking for a quick-start career opportunity? The Metalwork Training Program is for you! Skilled workers in manufacturing are in high-demand, and Bucks County Community College has partnered with local employers to fill numerous positions. The Metalwork Training Program includes theory and hands on skills assessment, introduces participants to the fundamental concepts and skills required in the field of advanced manufacturing. Metal fabricators design and create structural metal parts for a variety of industries, including auto, medical, food, shipbuilding and construction. Curriculum concentrates on shop math, measurement tools and systems, blueprint reading, safety, tools and machines, CNC machining and welding. Students will receive a certificate of completion, plus OSHA10 and Forklift Safety Training certification, and sit for the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) exam for Measurement, Materials, and Safety Certification. Features 12-Week, Monday-Thursday noon – 6:30pm Friday morning company tours, 9:00am – 11:00am Employer Driven, Entry Level; average salary for program graduates : $14-18/hr Individual Job Placement Services, 90% placement rate Typical job titles include: machinist, CNC operator, welder, material handler Veterans Strongly Encouraged to Apply Primary class location will be at the Upper Bucks College Campus in Perkasie. All hands-on welding and machine instruction will take place at the Upper Bucks Technical School (approximately 30 days) from 3:30pm – 6:30pm. Students will be responsible for their own transportation between campuses. Requirements for the program: Must be a U.S. Citizen/possess a Green Card Must be 18 years of age with a High School diploma or GED Must pass a drug screening, background check, mechanical aptitude test, and physical test Must have reliable transportation to commute to training and a variety of industry field trips Must be ready to work in Manufacturing Training is free for those who qualify, including those who are unemployed or underemployed. Competitive based on screenings & employer interview Classes will start on February 26th and will be held at the Upper Bucks College Campus in Perkasie, with hands-on training taking place at the Upper Bucks County Technical School.
