On August 23, 2018 a graduation ceremony for the summer session of the Global Leadership Program at Pearl S. Buck International was held. Graduates of the program include: Lauren Atchley, Lindsey Berger, Kyra Cunningham, Naomi Devries, Matthew Fu, Danika Greiser, Isabel Herrera, Madeline Hoffman, Penny Hu, Katelyn Jenkins, Sowndaryaa Kannan, Julie Kim, Aliyah Lomax, Nitish Mahesh, Reilly Monson, Marlee Monzon, Kayla Murray, Aarushi Singh, Alexandra Smallwood, Ashley Uppani, and Tara Wussler. As their service project, the students organized a picnic and movie night then donated the funds raised to help sponsored children and their families affected by disastrous flooding in the Philippines. The Global Leadership Program, for students from grades 9 through 11, is designed to help young adults become better students, college applicants, and global citizens. Students build relationships and learn vital skills such as team communication, cultural awareness, creativity, community service, leadership, goal setting and decision making in a group setting with teens from multiple high schools and differing backgrounds. The program is made possible by funding from Comcast. The deadline for applications for the fall session of the Global Leadership Program is September 25.
