It’s finally here! Following years of hard work and relentless determination, local officials, action sports enthusiasts, and supportive community members are excited to invite you to the groundbreaking ceremony for Phase 1 of the Quakertown Action Park Transformation Project on Saturday, October 6, 11 AM at Quakertown’s Main Street Skate Park. 670 S. Main Street, Quakertown. Phase 1 will include the construction of a 2,800 square foot building that will be the home base of operations for Free Fall Action Sports. The building will include a snack stand, restrooms, offices and shared meeting area for both Free Fall Action Sports and the Quakertown Borough Parks and Recreation Department. The new facility will add immediate value to the park and will be the cornerstone to the positive momentum taking place on this property. Financial funding and donated services for Phase 1 has been exclusively through local businesses, church partners, and community members. Berks Ridge Company Enterprises, Inc. will lead the construction with help from many of their partnering contractors. This is truly a grassroots effort to invest in the young people of our community! The Quakertown Action Park Committee continues to finalize details on Phase 2, the construction of a new state-of-the-art outdoor concrete skatepark, which will be next to the new building. This will replace the existing aged skatepark that was originally installed in 2003. Funding for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 has recently reached the milestone of 1 million dollars! This has been made possible by the significant support of local family business partners including the Marcho Family, Bergey’s Auto Dealerships, the Kenneth M. Carr Family, Hatfield Quality Meats, and DCNR and DCED Pennsylvania State grant funding, as well as the Tony Hawk Foundation. We always said it would take a miracle to pull this off. The miracle is all the different partners coming around the table at just the right time…Go God! – Pastor Dave Kratz, Quakertown Action Park Committee Leader. The vision is to see Quakertown’s Main Street Park transformed into a state-of-the-art action sports recreation and training facility that acts as a hub for additional mentorship and development opportunities. Completion of this project will provide an amazing place for bikers, skateboarders, and youth of all ages to come together and progress in their sport in a safe, positive and community friendly environment.
