Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 13, to replace the Route 313 (Dublin Pike) culvert over Morris Run in Hilltown Township, Bucks County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today. The new concrete arch culvert is expected to reopen in May. Over the next two months, crews will work to replace the existing structurally-deficient culvert with a new concrete arch culvert. During the operation, Route 313 (Dublin Pike) will be closed and detoured between Blue School Road and Bedminster Road. Cars will be detoured over North Ridge Road, Elephant Road, and Bedminster Road. Trucks will follow Route 563 (Ridge Road), Route 309, and Route 113 (Souderton Road). Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Built in 1930, the one-span concrete culvert is 10 feet long and 44 feet wide. The structure carries 13,446 vehicles a day. The replacement of the Route 313 (Dublin Pike) culvert is part of PennDOT’s $6.8 million project to rehabilitate four structurally-deficient bridges in Bucks and Montgomery counties, three structurally-deficient culverts in Bucks County, and to stabilize a stream embankment at a bridge in Bucks County. The cost to rehabilitate the Route 313 (Dublin Pike) culvert is approximately $100,000. This transportation improvement project is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania’s transportation plan. All work on the project is scheduled to be completed in late 2018. The general contractor is Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J.
