FREE Preschool and Home-Based Programs Applications Now Being Accepted Apply Online with the Bucks County Intermediate Unit for Head Start, Early Head Start, and Pre-K Counts The Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) is now accepting applications from county residents for the 2017-2018 Early Head Start, Head Start, and Pre-K Counts programs. Program eligibility is based on a wide variety of family incomes as set by the federal government for Early Head Start and Head Start, and by the state for Pre-K Counts. To apply, interested parties should start by completing the Bucks IU’s new online application (link located at www.BucksIU.org) to submit basic information about the child/applicant and their family. A Bucks IU staff member will then personally contact the applicant to review their eligibility and the program requirements, answer any questions, and assist the applicant in completing the remaining application process. Head Start, Early Head Start, and Pre-K Counts programs support children’s growth and progress in a positive learning environment through a variety of services. Children’s readiness for school and beyond is fostered through individualized learning experiences, by knowledgeable and caring adults, in all areas of development; social, emotional, language, literacy, cognitive, perceptual, motor and physical development. Head Start, providing a total of 387 seats in Bucks County, offers free full-time and full-day preschool for qualifying children between the ages of 3-5, including those with special needs. Additional openings for up to 32 expectant mothers, infants, and toddlers are also available under Early Head Start with their home-based programs. Pre-K Counts is also for children ages 3-5 and offers availability in several locations county-wide.
