Phoebe Ministries will honor Bill Hacker and Eric Blew of Arbor Insurance with the Rev. Dr. Grant Harrity Award for Exemplary Service to the Aging at their annual Institute on Aging Benefit on Thursday, March 22 in University Center at DeSales University, 2755 Station Avenue, Center Valley. The cocktail attire event will feature dinner and dancing and begins with cocktails at 6:00 p.m. Music will be provided by The Craig Thatcher Band. The Rev. Dr. Grant Harrity Award is presented annually to an individual or individuals whose leadership, service, and commitment advance the aging services field. Recipients of the award are celebrated for fostering innovative thinking, collaboration, and collective learning. Hacker and Blew have been strong supporters personally of Phoebe, and as President/CEO and CFO, respectively, of Arbor Insurance Group of Allentown they exemplify philanthropy through both board service and giving. In addition to the Harrity Award, an Exemplary Volunteer Award will be presented to Alyce Tokus, a resident of the Terrace at Phoebe Allentown who turned 103 in December and has volunteered for 23 years in community life at Phoebe. 2018 marks the first year that the Exemplary Volunteer Award will be presented. The award is presented to an individual or group who has shown long term commitment and support of Phoebe and our residents by giving their time to others. The Phoebe Institute on Aging Scholarship will also be awarded during the dinner and benefits an employee of Phoebe Allentown who provides direct care and is currently enrolled in a career enhancement program. All proceeds from the Phoebe Institute on Aging Benefit support educational opportunities for health care workers and the community. Phoebe is able to provide educational conferences at little or no cost to attendees thanks to the generosity of sponsors and attendees. Tickets are $125 per person, $200 per couple and $1,000 for a table of eight. Registration is requested by February 16, 2018. Sponsorships are still available and start at $250. For more information or to learn about additional sponsorship opportunities, please contact Rebecca Horst in Phoebe’s office of Institutional Advancement at 610-794-5149 or rhorst@phoebe.org. The benefit is organized by staff at Phoebe Ministries and a benefit committee that includes Mary Stevenson, Co-Chair and Sonya Siegfried, Co-Chair, Kirsten Dwyer, Kerianne Geist, Grace Hoyer, Karina Kane, Winnie Melinsky, and Jill Stevens. The Phoebe Institute on Aging is proud to feature the artwork of Phoebe’s resident artists at the 2018 event.
