Event Description: The Quakertown Band is celebrating its 135th anniversary Sunday evening with a concert at Quakertown's Memorial Park at 5 p.m. (rain location Strayer Middle School). Free. 215-536-0552, http://quakertownband.org. There are two concerts. The band plays at 6 p.m. followed by a 45-minute act with "hilarious magic" of deaf illusionist Sam Sandler and his glamorous assistant Christine. After the magician's act ends, the band returns with another 45 minutes of its own musical magic. In addition to celebrating its anniversary, the band will honor two long-time members, trumpeter Maynard Cressman, who's been with the ensemble 55 years (that's 40 percent of its existence), and alto saxophonist Lynn Hasson, who has a 40-year tenure. Oh, and there's free ice cream, soft drinks and soft pretzels...
