Event Description:
Best Buy's Community Grant Applications are opening up on July 1st. I wanted to give everyone some insight on how they should be focusing their grant application and what it should be for. *You must talk about how you will utilize the money granted to you to create a program that will empower early adolescents (focus on ages 12-18) to excel in school, engage in their communities, and develop leadership skills. *Make sure in your grant application you include the partnership between your organization and your local stores, such as volunteerism. Remember that we have the Tag Team Award Program available for Non-Profit organizations, for 10 Best Buy employees in which volunteer their time; the qualifying non-profit organization would receive $1,000. Does your organization qualify for the grant? Take the eligibility quiz listed below. Remember schools do not qualify for these grants; however, non-profits attached to a school may qualify for a specific program they are doing around the teen segment. You must put on the grant application a Best Buy Store, here are the stores in which I cover; Quakertown Best Buy, Bethlehem Best Buy & Phillipsburg Best Buy Community Grants Through the Community Grants program www.easymatch.com/bestbuygrant Best Buy teams across the United States select non-profit organizations that provide positive experiences to help teens to excel in school and develop life and leadership skills. This year, Best Buy Children's Foundation will give $2 million in Community Grants. Best Buy seeks applications from organizations that have current 501(c)(3) tax status and are serving a diverse population of young teens in the areas of learning, life skills and leadership. Special consideration will be given to programs that provide youth with access to opportunity through technology. Additional criteria include: * Serve a diverse population in local or regional communities * Build social, academic, leadership and/or life skills in early adolescents (primarily ages 13-17) * Show positive results against a demonstrated community need * Reach at-risk children in working families Funding Guidelines Grants will average $4000-$6000 and will not exceed $10,000. Non-profits located within 50 miles of a Best Buy store or Regional Distribution Center may apply. See the Best Buy store locator at www.bestbuy.com and include the Best Buy location number in your grant application. Organizations must successfully complete the grant eligibility quiz online at www.easymatch.com/bestbuygrant Grants are awarded for one year. We invite grantees to re-apply based on program results, although there are no guarantees of multi-year grants. Process July 1 Grant application opens. Review guidelines and apply online at www.easymatch.com/bestbuygrant August 1 Deadline to submit application online. Hard copy applications will not be considered. October Grant announcement and awards. Questions Go to www.easymatch.com/bestbuygrant or contact bestbuygrant@easymatch.com or 866-625-4350.
