Event Description:
Join the Rebellion!
The Fries Rebellion 5K promotes healthy lifestyle, local charity and a celebration of the history of Quakertown. In 1799, John Fries gathered several hundred Pennsylvania German farmers to rebel against the raising of property taxes to fund an anticipated war with France. The rebellion led to the release of imprisoned tax resisters. John Fries was tried and sentenced to be hanged but was eventually pardoned by John Adams.
