Teaming Up For Food Drive

 

First Savings Banking-Insurance-Investments and local radio station, Word FM, are joining forces to conduct “Food for Bucks”, a food drive to benefit those in need in the Central and Upper Bucks County areas. “Food for Bucks” will kick off beginning Tuesday, November 7 and continue through Saturday November 26.

“As families continue to struggle to put food on the table, we all have the opportunity to reach out and be helpful,” said Billy Dunn, Community Director of Word FM. “Word FM and First Savings are sponsoring a food drive in our immediate coverage area. You can start picking up extra nonperishable and canned foods while doing your grocery shopping to donate at select First Savings branch offices in November.” The Word FM Radio network is located at 88.9 FM.

The event will begin with non-perishable food items being accepted at the Quakertown branch office of First Savings, located at 1051 South West End Blvd., from Monday, November 7 through November 12. Representatives from Word FM will be at the branch on Thursday, November 10 from 1pm until 4pm to meet and greet food item contributors. Food products collected will be donated to the Quakertown Food Pantry.

The second collection location will be at the new Buckingham First Savings office at 3969 Durham Road, the intersection of Route 413 and Cold Spring Creamery Road. Items will be collected from Monday, November 14 through Saturday, November 19 and will be given to the Bucks County Housing Group Doylestown Food Pantry. Representatives from Word FM will also be on hand at the Buckingham branch on Thursday, November 17 from 1pm until 4pm.

The third opportunity to donate needed food items will be at the First Savings branch office located at 1129 North Fifth Street, Perkasie, beginning Monday, November 21 through Saturday, November 26. Representatives from Word FM will make an appearance at the branch on Wednesday, November 23 from 11am until 2pm. Food collected at this location will benefit the Pennridge FISH Organization.
“First Savings and Word FM have partnered together to provide food to struggling families across Bucks County,” noted Fred Schea, President and CEO of First Savings. “To say that we are humbled and grateful to provide to those struggling in today’s economic climate would be an understatement. We recognize that one of the challenges many families are facing today is wondering how to pay for the next bag of groceries. We hope that this food drive will help to alleviate some of those burdens.”
