The Sellersville Theater announces the “Reveal” of a dramatic new 40 x 25 foot color mural on June 12th at 6 pm along the Temple Ave side of the Theater. William Quigley and his wife Elayne Brick have owned the Sellersville Theater since 2001. Throughout the past 22 years, the Theater has brought over 1,000,000 visitors and music lovers to Sellersville’s growing Cultural District. “The Theater has always been about community,” shared Brick. “Everyone wanted us to succeed, local individuals and businesses helped fund renovations and improvements to the Theater over the years. With help we were able to create a venue that has brought numerous national and international performers to Sellersville. Our first performance, a sold-out show, was the legendary musician Leon Redbone. Since that time over the past 20 years, we have hosted nearly 5,000 performances.” “We have always wanted to create some type of mural on the side of the Theater,” remarked Brick. “As Sellersville has embarked upon the revitalization of our Downtown Cultural District this seemed like the perfect time to fulfill that dream. We had reached out to the Borough to help us find a muralist, and in a serendipitous turn of events, a muralist appeared in resident Domenic Falcone.” Domenic Falcone, now 80 years old, is a retired and renowned art director and designer who moved into Sellersville Borough in 2022. Falcone wanted to make a difference in his new hometown and came to Borough Hall to volunteer his creative expertise to improve and market Sellersville. Borough Manager Eileen Bradley immediately gave him his first assignment, to help design a community mural. Falcone began the mural design in earnest from concept to completion after many iterations over the past year. “This mural is a rhythmic reflection through colors and shapes, a window to the musical performances inside,” explained muralist Dominic Falcone on his design. "The Sellersville Theater draws nearly 60,000 music lovers to Sellersville every year and we wanted to create a colorful mural to celebrate the varying types of musical genres,” said Brick. “We hope the mural will be a defining, iconic location landmark in Sellersville.” Due to the scale and size of the mural, its production required the enlistment of Signarama in Lansdale to convert Falcone’s hand-drawn design, and transfer it to digital format, then onto a specialized vinyl material for installation on the Sellersville Theater wall. “The Sellersville Theater has long anchored our downtown Cultural District, drawing visitors from all over the country - and the world - to our growing town,” commented Eileen Bradley. “The Borough has undertaken a dynamic revitalization recently, with $65 million in newly approved development plans and has opened five new businesses along Main Street. Combined with the unveiling of this spectacular mural, we can encourage millions in new downtown investment.” Elayne and her husband also own the Washington House Hotel and Restaurant next door to the Theater since 1985. The Washington House seats 200 and offers Contemporary American Cuisine in a casual fine dining setting. The Hotel, ranked the 2nd Best in Bucks County, has 11 elegant rooms including a Victorian Tower suite with 360-degree views overlooking Sellersville. Sponsorship for the mural came through the generous support of the Bucks County Tourism Grant Program, QNB Bank, Sellersville Borough, Sellersville Theater and Domenic Falcone, muralist.
