Pride of Quakertown (POQ) is proud to announce the receipt of a significant new grant from Foundations Community Partnership (FCP), just in time for the new school year in the Quakertown Community School District. Valued at $5500, this grant will contribute significantly to POQ’s mission of providing scholarships to at-risk children that allow them to participate in extra-curricular enrichment programs. Each year, over 125 kids benefit from these scholarships. Our vision is that no child should be denied the chance to pursue their dream. “We are so excited to have been awarded this grant!” said Jen Reich, co-founder of POQ. “It is gratifying to all of us who volunteer to see that our efforts are recognized and appreciated." The award was presented to POQ by Dr. Tobi Bruhn, CEO of FCP. “We are thrilled to partner with POQ in this effort. Childhood development is a critical part of our mission. POQ provides an important service to at-risk youth in the community.” POQ was honored to be invited to accept this award at the Quakertown Community School District board meeting on August 24th. Dr. Matthew Friedman, Superintendent, had this to say about POQ. “As the new Superintendent of the school district, I was pleased to learn that POQ exists to help our kids. Many studies show a high correlation between extra-curricular participation and student academic achievement; as well as good citizenship. Thank you to FCP for their financial support. I look forward to working closely with POQ.” Giving back – One child at a time Working through the counselors at the Quakertown Community School District, POQ helps children participate in a broad array of activities including music, art, sports, and many other programs. Based on the counselors’ recommendation, each child receives an individual scholarship that supports his or her desire to achieve and grow. “With the generous support from the Pride of Quakertown, my daughter has been able to attend karate class and is working towards her junior black belt. She has learned that hard work pays off, to always do your best, and to be kind and respectful towards others. My family is appreciative of the opportunity we have been given and we are thankful to all of those who support and fund the Pride of Quakertown. Thank you!” POQ Parent About Pride of Quakertown Pride of Quakertown is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) that provides scholarships for needy children ages 5-18 to participate in extra-curricular activities within the community. We believe that every child deserves the right to have access to all experiences that may enrich their lives and provide opportunities for growth and learning. We have developed partnerships with a variety of recreational program leaders to determine the best way to include a scholarship recipient into their desired program and through this relationship we have strengthened the bonds that occur within the Quakertown area.
