More low-income, uninsured Bucks County residents will be able to seek health care from the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic in Doylestown, thanks, in part, to a sponsorship from Penn Community Bank. Penn Community Bank has donated $8,000 to serve as the presenting sponsor of the clinic’s 2019 golf outing, one of its primary fundraisers. The bank has committed to serving at that sponsorship level for the next three years. The money raised at the event is crucial to support the ongoing operations of the free health clinic housed at Doylestown Hospital. “Each year, the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic helps about 1,500 low-income patients who otherwise would not be able to afford health care, and we could not do it without the support of sponsors such as Penn Community Bank,” said Sally Fabian-Oresic, longtime executive director of the clinic. “We are deeply grateful to our generous sponsors and to the more than 280 volunteers who help us run the clinic day in and day out, so we can continue to meet the health care needs of our area’s most vulnerable families.” Founded in 1994 as the Free Clinic of Doylestown, it was renamed in honor of the late Ann Silverman, who, along with her husband Herman Silverman, joined with Doylestown Hospital and its physicians to start the clinic. Today, it offers medical, dental and behavioral health care from volunteer doctors, dentists, nurses, physicians’ assistants, nurse practitioners, counselors, and more. “Penn Community Bank focuses its community giving on a number of challenges that we are trying to solve, hopefully permanently one day, which include food insecurity, homelessness, poverty, and financial literacy,” said Penn Community Bank President and CEO Jeane M. Vidoni. “We are honored to partner with community organizations such as the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic to ensure that everyone in this community has the opportunity not just to survive but to thrive.” The Ann Silverman clinic recently completed an expansion project, doubling the number of exam rooms from two to four and adding a patient waiting room, restroom, storage room, and medication room. The expansion enables two medical practitioners to treat patients at the same time, greatly improving the clinic’s efficiency at a time when the number of low-income and uninsured people seeking care from the clinic continues to climb.
