June 12, 2019 The Quakertown Farmers Market proudly announces the winners of the 2019 Young Community Activist Award: Adria Retter, Elliot McCune, Nathan Spak and Giacinta Barndt. The Young Community Activist Award is given to college bound seniors from the Quakertown Community, with a concentration in the arts that has met or exceeded certain academic requirements, who exemplify respect, responsibility, character, sacrifice and contributed back to the community. All our award winners will start their college careers this Fall. Adria Retter plans to attend Swarthmore college to major in Psychology with a minor in English. Our next recipient, Elliot McCune will major in Art to fulfill his dream of becoming an Animator or Comic Artist. Nathan Spak plans to attend the University of Scranton to study Kinesiology, Exercise Science. And Giacinta Barndt plans to attend Shippensburg University, majoring in early childhood and special education.
