Bucks County’s leading mutual financial institution donates $10,000 to support the annual fundraiser to support Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) Penn Community Bank was proud to partner with Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) of Bucks County to serve as the title sponsor of the 7th annual NO BULLying Run. Penn Community Bank donated $10,000 to support the 2019 event, a 5-mile run and 1-mile fun run held on Sunday, June 9 in Doylestown’s Central Park. Attracting runners and walkers from across the region, the run has become a premier event for NOVA and aims to help to raise awareness of the effects and consequences of bullying, including cyberbullying. More than 4 out of 10 students have reported experiencing some form of cyberbullying in the past year, according to figures from the National Education Association. Children and teens who are bullied are at higher risk for irregular school attendance, academic problems, substance abuse, anxiety, depression and health consequences such as headaches and stomachaches. All race proceeds benefit NOVA, which supports, counsels and empowers victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes in Bucks County and works to prevent and eliminate violence in society through advocacy, training, community education and prevention programs. In addition to financial sponsorship, many Penn Community Bank team members volunteer to support NOVA, including Assistant Vice President Will Kadri, who manages the bank’s New Hope and Wrightstown locations and serves on NOVA’s Young Professionals Board. Founded in 1974, NOVA is a nonprofit, community-based organization. It offers free services directly to victims of major crimes and advancing the rights of victims through advocacy and prevention education programs. To learn more, visit novabucks.org.
