$10,000 Grant Awarded to Bucks County Opportunity Council to Help Residents ‘Beat the Heat’ this Summer

Funding is part of Vistra’s ‘Beat the Heat’ campaign, supporting box fan giveaways to help communities stay cool during summer months

Vistra and its leading Pennsylvania retail electricity brand, Dynegy, along with the newly acquired Fairless Power Plant in Bucks County, today awarded $10,000 to the Bucks County Opportunity Council.

The funding supported a box fan giveaway during BCOC’s regular Fresh Connect resource day, a free farmers market offering fresh, healthy food to hungry neighbors. BCOC handed out 400 box fans to eligible households.

“Partnerships like this allow us to meet people where they are and respond to real, immediate needs in our community,” Bucks County Opportunity Council Chief Executive Officer Erin A. Lukoss said. “For many families, staying cool during the summer is not a given, and this grant from Vistra helps provide relief, comfort and dignity to neighbors who are already facing difficult choices. We are grateful for their support and for their commitment to helping Bucks County families stay healthy and safe.”

The donation is part of Vistra’s annual Beat the Heat campaign, which helps communities stay cool, safe and supported during the summer months.

This donation reflects our commitment to supporting neighbors in need and making a meaningful difference beyond the energy we provide.”

This is the second time Vistra has partnered with Bucks County Opportunity Council. In 2025, the company donated $5,000 to support BCOC’s overall mission to provide assistance with housing, food, taxes and energy bills for low-income families in Bucks County. BCOC is the county’s lead anti-poverty program.

Since 2020, Vistra and Dynegy have donated more than half a million dollars in Pennsylvania to support partners who are making a difference locally. That means investing in key focus areas of community welfare, economic development, education, employee involvement, and environment and sustainability.
